God Loves All Sinners Everywhere

Even though God's creatures have sinned against Him, He made a way to bring us back to Himself, to forgive us, and to make us clean and pure again.  God wants you and everyone you know to be saved from the power, guilt, and penalty of sin.  Consider the following passages and contemplate God's love for all of fallen man.

In 1 Timothy 2 – “God our Savior…desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…”

In John 3 -  “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

In 1 John 4 – “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

In 1 John 2 – “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

In 2 Peter 3 – “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Have you trusted in Christ as your Savior?  God is inviting you to receive his gift of salvation.  When Jesus died on the cross, He was paying the death penalty for your sins. Trust in Jesus and His sacrifice for your sins. Call on God to forgive you and save you; He will not turn you away.  Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Good Old-Fashioned Bible Preaching!

Our dear friends, Jim and Bobbi Cook will be with us all next week (January 17-22).  Jim will be preaching at 10:45 and 6 on Sunday 1/17, and then each night at 6:30 during the week.  Bobbi will minister to the ladies on Wednesday at 11:00 at a Mexican potluck luncheon here in our fellowship hall.
Jim and Bobbi are sincere servants of God who have been in full-time ministry since the 1960's.  They love people and are specially gifted to encourage, comfort, and exhort.  We hope you can join us for these very special meetings.  Bring the whole family.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Well, our Christmas party was just awesome. A big thank you to all the Prospect Baptist family for everything you did to pull it off once again - lots of well spent man-hours. Our kids are getting more musical all the time; it is a blessing to behold. And the soup was to die for. And thanks also to everyone who came out; it was so good to see so many old and new friends. We look forward to seeing many of you again soon.
The Lord Jesus Christ deserves all the credit for his many gifts to us - family, friends, food, music - and salvation. "...All things were created by Him and for Him...He is before all things, and in Him all things consist... And you who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death to present you holy and blameless and above reproach in His sight..." Colossians 1

Join us Sunday, November 29 @ 6PM

The LORD will surely save me; so we will play my songs on stringed instruments all the days of our life at the house of the LORD. Isaiah 38:20

We love music at Prospect Avenue Baptist Church, and this month we're having a very special concert. Fingerstyle guitarist Ben Owens will be with us Sunday, November 29 at 6PM. Ben will be performing solo arrangements of beloved hymns and originals (from blistering barn-burners to beautiful ballads) as well as collaborating with other instrumentalists and vocalists. It will be an awesome event, and we would love to have you. We will have gourmet coffee drinks and baked goods, and everything will be free. This will be a great way to regroup and relax after the busy holiday weekend. Ben is a dear brother and a tremendous role model and inspiration to kids of all ages; so we encourage you to bring the whole family.

20-year-old Ben Owens began playing guitar at age 13 and began performing publicly at age 15. Ben graduated high school as valedictorian and went on to earn an associate's degree in music at Grossmont College under the tutelage of Classical and Flamenco virtuoso Fred Benedetti where he maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Ben has been greatly influenced by many great guitarists including the late fingerstyle legends Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, Australian fingerstyle phenom Tommy Emmanuel, national fingerstyle champions Pete Huttlinger and Richard Smith, and a host of other great musicians from J.S. Bach to Django Reinhardt. Ben is a featured performer at the annual Chet Atkins Appreciation Society convention in Nashville and at Tim Johnson's Lord of the Strings Concert Series in Dana Point, Ca.

After completing his music degree at Grossmont, Ben transferred to Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina to prepare for a career in Christian ministry. Ben will be home on Thanksgiving break to play ticketed concerts in Dana Point and San Pedro, wrapping up the weekend with this free performance in his hometown. Don't miss this special engagement.
